Game 9: Japan 72 vs 0 China

Team Japan stamps out the representative of China and winds 3rd place







With a great performance and a crushing victory of 72-0, Team Japan won the 3rd- place and the bronze medal in his farewell to the World University Championship of American Football.

The Japanese team had no problem to take advantage of Team China who allowed 51 points in the first half and 21 in the second one.

Tatsuya Yamazaky opened the scoring when receiving a pass 17 yards pass. Later, Kazuky Takaguchi ran to get the second TD of the game; the extra point was converted by Kenichi Otsuka to increase the score to14-0.

Immediately after failing the Chinese offense, Seiya Inokuma returned the punt return 54 yards to the touchdown, 21-0 was the score. Right before the end of the first quarter Aruto Nichimura came with two touchdowns, first receiving a 30 yards pass from Ryohei Takahashi, plus a 36 yards punt return to increase their advantage to 35 points.

The Japanese defense credited he next nine points with a 9 yards pick-six by Shogo Yamazaky and safety caused by Chikaky Kaneshiro to place the score 44-0.

Seconds before the end of the second quarter, Yuto Nishiyama sent a pass to Maoki Furukawa to finish crushing China in the first half by 51-0.

For the second half, Furukawa continued the party and scored once again with a 21-yard run to extend the lead 58-0. Late in the third quarter, another pick-six by Endo So he puts the score 65-0.

In the fourth quarter, Ryohei Takahashi completed a pass with Seiya Inokuma to leave the final score of 72-0.

Japanese MVP was Kenichi Otsuka while Team China’s MVP was Zhang Huachen.

This was the final game for both teams who conclude their participation in the World International Championship of American Football, Monterrey 2016.
